Complete Mountaineering Course

This is a 7 day course designed to teach you the full range of skills necessary to go mountaineering on your own. You will cover the full range of skills from ice and rock climbing to glacier travel and crevasse rescue.  More advance techniques such as multi pitch rock climbing, using natural anchors and climbing ice faces will be introduced.  If this sounds like a lot, it is.  This course will try to teach you as many skills as possible in this intense week of mountaineering.

As part of the learning, you will climb many of the surrounding mountains. Possible objectives include Mount Lyell. At over 11,000 feet, this is one of the highest peaks in the Canadian Rockies and a goal for many mountaineers.

For more details  see Mountaineering Course

Icefall Traverse

This is a low end introduction to mountaineering, with no steep or technical climbing. It is a high level backpacking that traverses several glaciers while circling the head of Icefall Canyon.  For more details see Icefall Traverse Glacier Trek

Rock climbing

Rock climbing is close to the lodge.  There are several crags with single pitch sport  climbs within 15 minutes of the lodge.  A 35 minute hike takes you to the base of Tivoli, which features multipitch climbs at a moderate grade.  Corners, crack climbing, face and friction climbing are all found here. This cliff is 160m (500 feet) high and is a good place to learn the techniques for moving efficiently and safely on long climbs.  There are also many rock climbing on many of the surrounding peaks. Difficulty ranges from scrambling, through to 5th class, pitched climbing.

Private Guiding

Hire a mountain guide and custom design your own trip. Having a private guide will allow you to choose your objectives and make your own schedule. It can offer a more intensive learning experience or allow you to climb a specific peak.  Some private guiding objectives include:
