Ski Touring Bookings Ski weeks December 2009
Ski weeks 2010
All prices are in Canadian dollars and are subject to 5% GST. All prices include the helicopter transportation in and out. Icefall Lodge Had a large expansion over the summer 2008, see Lodge for more details. The capacity is now 16 for self guided groups and up to 15 for guided groups.
Waiver All participants must sign a waiver to visit Icefall Lodge. Please read the waiver carefully as it is a legal contract. Self Guided Groups: Groups are allowed to book Icefall lodge without a guide. It is recommended that all members of a self guided group be competent in avalanche safety, glacier travel and mountain conditions. All group members should all be able to assess safety for themselves. If the group is unsure of their ability or experience, it is recommended that they hire an ACMG Ski Guide or IFMGA Mountain Guide. The weeks listed above as available, are open to self guided groups. Self guided groups can be up to 16 people. A $3000 deposit is required to book the lodge with balance due 3 months before the start of the trip. The group organizer must collect money from the group and pay us by Cheque. We do not want 16 individual payments. The prices listed above are total for the group. It is up to the group how to divide this total. The group organizer may deserve a free trip or discount for the work involved in organizing the week. If you have a partial group and wish to come self guided, you can pay on a per person basis. Partial groups must use the catered option as there is limited space in the kitchen. To book a partial group a deposit of $500/ person is required. Self guided groups may be catered or self catered. It is recommended that self guided groups have the week catered. The additional cost is only 225/person for food, chef and all the preparation before hand. Also with limited space on the helicopter, the experience of know how much to pack is very useful. If the week is self catered, there will be a custodian at the lodge. The group will be responsible for providing meals for the custodian. Self guided groups will be required to sign a self guided waiver
Cancellation: It is recommended that you buy cancellation insurance at the time you book the trip. You may have another skier go in your place if you can't make the trip. We do not give refunds. You are responsible if you miss your trip for any reason, including but not limited to, missed, delayed or cancelled flights, road closures, Customs Canada, personal or business reasons.
Helicopter cost: Any extra helicopter flights due to excess baggage, late arrival or special flights mid week are the responsibility of the individual. Communication: For the 2009 season communication from the lodge to the outside world is by satellite phone, satellite internet and radio repeater. None of these work all the time and it often happens that no communication is possible. Poor weather: If we are unable to fly on the Saturday, you are responsible for your own accommodation in Golden but will not be charged extra if you are unable to fly out of the lodge. It is good to leave a day leeway with any transportation arrangements especially flights. See the Gear List for details on what to bring. Logistics All winter trips to Icefall are fly in, fly out one week trips. We will meet at the Canadian Helicopters Hangar in Golden at 11 am on Saturday. There will be a helicopter safety briefing by the pilot and then 4 flights in. The flights are normally 15 minutes one way. Because space is limited on the helicopter, we limit your personal gear to 2 small packs (Less than 40 liters each). Do not bring large duffle bags or packs. Individual pack weight should not exceed 35 pounds (combined weight) including beverages. The total weight allowed in 4 flights is 4400 pounds. If an extra flight is required due to excess baggage or any other reason, you will be charged for it. See the gear list for required items. Transportation: There is an international airport in Calgary. Golden can be reached by driving 3 hours west of Calgary. You will be responsible for your own transportation to Golden and from Golden to the staging area (20 minutes to the west). There is transportation available by Greyhound or a shuttle service directly from Calgary International Airport. Please do not leave valuables in the vehicles parked at the staging area.
